Eco Committee Presentation to International Students

On Monday 7th November Bridport Primary School was visited by a large group of International students all with an interest in sustainable and renewable energy. Accompanied by Tim Crabtree the students were treated to a short talk by the Eco committee, a group of youngsters at the school responsible for maintaining the schools sustainable approach to school life. Sally Rowe the teacher in charge took the group through the work the children had done over the last couple of years and invited questions from the 20 strong audience.

Pete West, Renewable Energy Development Officer and Alison Jay, Eco-Schools Officer both from Dorset County Council joined the group to explain the way the solar panels fitted to the school would be generating energy and enhancing the school’s energy production. The children and students were enthralled by Alison’s mini solar panel working model that clearly highlighted how the sun uses energy to power objects on the ground. The pupils at BPS will be using these mini models to learn more about the power being captured in their school and assessing its impact on costs over time using the computerised technology in place there.
