Thank you to all those who attended our Community Environment Day on Saturday 23rd April. The day was a tremendous success and what we managed to achieve on the day far surpassed our expectations. The atmosphere was superb, lots of fun and laughter while at the same time, real hard graft! It was wonderful to see children of all different ages working together and enjoying the challenge of achieving something that will benefit our whole school. Our volunteers enjoyed refreshments and a chat in the sunshine while taking well earned breaks. Please look out for all the improvements around the school, with many more to come. Things to look out for include:

KS1 area

  • Sheds and playhouses painted
  • new planting in KS1 planters
  • new playground markings
  • outdoor 'mud' restaurant with new seating
  • pallet car

Reception area

  • Fairy garden in reception playground
  • Raised surface for small world play and a chalkboard surface
  • Planting in Henry tubs
  • pallet bus
  • mud kitchen
  • playground markings

KS2 area

  • Bug hotel near Friendship Stop
  • New rockery, including fossils in year 3 planter

School garden

  • Poly tunnel removed
  • Large shed moved
  • Deep beds cleared and fruit bushes planted
  • Huge area cleared that included moving a pile of leaf matter, fence panels, stones and bricks and weeds so that new area for wildlife garden can be accessed
  • Mini woodland path

Everyone who attended agreed it was a fantastic day with many calls to do it all over again next year. Watch this space!
